REC recommends a 3 page CV layout; you can have more or less depending on your skills and experience. Also include a covering letter stating your current salary, salary sought, notice period and preferred geographical areas.

Overall summary: This is to include a general overview of skills and experience and the nature of work sought. It can also include hardware, software, case tools, methodologies, databases etc. how many years and months used for each.
Employment History: Each job entry covering the last 5 years: Reverse chronological order. (If one job, break it down by an entry for each position held).

Hardware: Hardware environment.
Software: Operating systems, languages, databases, case tools etc.
Methodologies: SSADM, YOURDON etc.

Previous career (Older than 5 years, if not go straight to training courses) list dates, company and position, plus briefer text i.e. a more condensed version of the above.

Training courses: List ideally with dates professional courses undertaken and any formal IT qualifications gained i.e. SSADM version 4 or Novell CNE.
Hobbies and Interests: Suggest no more than 2 to 3 lines, recommend nothing too controversial.
References: Recommend that 2 references (including address and telephone) are put in with a comment that no approach be made to them without your prior permission.
